Mike,

Thanks for the reply....nope, didn't know you had the bird up on the hoist....

We went to the Pig Roast and enjoyed it....as well as those BIG margs at La Serenidad....

I don't forsee myself in Mulege for a few years as it is a long drive from BC and future travel plans are being in the favour of my wife.....as this 4-week trip was MY indulgent luxury....she wants to go to Italy (not that bad an idea, but I doubt they have even heard of fish tacos there:()

Missing a plane ride was one of the regrets of "missed rides" on this trip...but SOMEDAY :bounce:

My next Baja ride will likely be a week in the San Felipe-Valle Trinidad-Rancho Veronica loop doing some single-track riding....a local group take a converted bus down several times a year...and I will be a passenger with them for a "short blast"...

Be careful up there...

Corky...more Canucks coming your way

Corky,
A veteran Baja racer from here (another older guy....:lol:)is headed down for 2 weeks riding with a group of other good riders...he says he thinks he knows you....Al Perrett will be doing a Rancho Veronica - Mulege round trip over the usual impossible routes you and Bill seem to treasure...if you are down there, keep your head down ...:o

Honda/Yamaha/? what to buy.... ???cc"s...old guy would like to try one of these rides... most likely would take "day rides" perhaps overnight at motels... based in Los Barriles but could truck the bike to other locales.. darn pictures made me realize I need another toy/hobby...

Senior Jack,

How much dirt riding experience do you have?
Can you do your own maintenance?
What price range??

I once rode my bicycle down a dirt road.... what I lack in experience I can make up with enthusiasm or extreme caution... not a daredevil... mtce... minor yes anything else cure with $... I am 62 years young w/bad heart how much is reasonable to expect for a "hardly used bike" or maybe a new entry-level

Sounds like a honda crf 230 /elect, or XR 250 R , or XR 200R would work for you.
I would do a little googling and find more info.
Yamaha 225 is also a great bike but might be a little small for whay you want to do.
Good luck,
Corky:lol::lol:

Just followed that entire thread and really enjoyed it! Thanks.

Difficult to find a favorite part, but I really enjoyed.

We unpacked the truck as was our travelling ritual:
1) worry about security issues;
2) unpack all the stuff from the truck and lug it to the room;
3) cable the bikes and tires to truck;
4) worry about the whole rig being stolen;
5) remember that sometimes you don't need to worry so much;
6) double-check that padlock is clicked;
7) have a beer;
8) walk out to truck and examine bikes with astute mechanical eyes;
9) get another beer and extoll the virtues of what fokkin incredible machines these are;
10) talk about where and what we might want for dinner;
11) get another beer and gaze lovingly at the bikes;
12) start to get ready to go eat something and decide whether to walk or take the truck (depending on where we are);
13) get in the truck and scout the town for the most promising taco stand;
14) eat tacos;
15) look for where else to park....and decide that it is close to the ice cream stand...

It really captures that we love it here, but we have some concerns.

Thanks Again
Diane

Corky and Diane....

Corky....I had to finish the ride report just so you could untangle your shorts:lol: I know how you have been waiting at your computer daily to see if we made it home safely....;D

Diane, glad you liked the story...and can apparently relate to such a ritual....

After that month in the baja, I thought I had my fill that would last me a few years....but it took less than a week back home to start looking for time frames to return....some of us get the bug....my only regret is that I live so far from Tecate..:(
