Got the pages done last night, and just completed uploading today and there is alot of new, updated content to view including contact info for the
various hotel and accomodation locations. Many new photos up for La Gringa, Montevideo, some new fishing photos, photos of the new monument in town,
etc.
Looking forward to adding more.

End of an era...
There was something quite romantic about a town that turns off the lights every night at 10 or 11 pm.
We would be at Paulina's or Gecko and look towards town and see it all sparkling with lights and them look again and see it totally dark.
In town, after lights out... all the stars that would take over lighting the sky!
Another end of a special Baja event...

Romantic...?
We were fishing one July at BOLA, had a great time on the water with the breeze blowing, drinking Pacifico's, and catching fish. Not minding the 100
degree day. We decided to splurge and got a room at Villa Vitta rather than camp and try to sleep in the heat.
They had airconditioned rooms, we were in hog heaven! 
We took showers in the late afternoon, turned on the air and went out to eat dinner.
Came back feeling no pain, went to bed in our airconditioned room and............................at 10 pm the airconditioning stopped, along with the
generator. 
Romantic? Not at the time.
Point well taken though about our changing Baja.

It might be romantic when the lights go out, but for those who make their lives here, 24 hour electricity would make things alot more comfortable.
It's hard enough to survive the heat in the summer (especially at night) for the adults, but can you imagine what it's like for the small children
and infants in those conditions? And the elderly too? There is a huge difference between visiting a place once in a while and actually living day to
day, week after week, month after month, year after year during all the climates here.
Many cannot afford either electricity or propane to run fridges and keep their foodstuffs cold. It's expensive here. If the proposed electricity
makes it to Bahia, it will be much more affordable from what I understand.
There is lots and lots and lots of desert surrounding us where one can go if they want pitch darkness. I personally will welcome the electricity if
it actually makes it here. Not that I need it, I'm self contained, but for the people of town it will make their lives alot easier.

No doubt that life will be easier and 'progress happens'... However, the power going off every night was something that has been happening there since
Papa Diaz put the first generator into operation for the town... 50 years ago...
Ken, staying at Villa Vita was a mistake as any other place would have been upfront about the whole town being turned off at 10 pm. There are other
horror stories about that place that will have you staying or eating anywhere else!
It was bound to happen, but still... people chose to live there with the way it was, afterall!

Town Generator...
David, the town generator has not been in operation for 50 years. It was here when I came to live in Bahia in '88 and I thought at that time it had
been running for about 10 years.
Just for the heck of it I went and talke to Chubasco. Always the best to get it right from the source. He said it will be 20 years since his Dad
passed away and that Antero had got the generator/town electricity going about 10 years before that.
So that's roughly 30 years, not 50. And if the funds and means would have been available, they would have run it at night too. Everyone is hoping
the power makes it here as it will be alot more affordable.
As for people "choosing" to live here, hey, some have no choice. Many do not have the means to get themselves to the turnoff, much less to relocate
themselves to another place altogether.
Most have vehicles, but many don't. And even if they did have a car and the money to put gas in it, where would they go and how would they start a
new life? And besides, this is their home and I personally think it will be nice for them to have a little comfort and take less of a hit in the
pocket book.
