San Quintin y Puerto Nuevo

We returned last night after spending four days on the other side of the peninsula.
Day 1- Monday
Sixteen of us departed the South Campos at 5:30 AM bound for San Matias. We arrived at 7:00 and were greeted with a breakfast of bisquits and gravy at our friends house. Several of our group had spent the night in San Matias and we now were a group of 24. Most of the group elected to take the short route to Hwy 1 through Valle Trinidad. We and some others were concerned about the recent rains and the fact that the Baja 250 had just run over that road. We chose to take the much longer route via Ensenada. As usual, we arrived At the Old Mill in San Quintin before those who took the short cut. The back road turned out to be in better shape than expected. We settled into our rooms and then regrouped in the courtyard. While planning our dinner location, we were disappointed to learn that Jardines was closed and being converted to a bed and breakfast. We settled on Don Eddys and enjoyed great meals.

Day 2- Tuesday Our lust for crab claws drew us to El Pabellon and we were rewarded with a gunny sack of 10 kilos. From there most of us headed to El Rosario for food and fuel. After a wonderful lunch of bistec ranchero and lobster burritos, we filled up at Antonio's. At this point we went different directions. Four of us headed back via Cielito Lindo. The margaritas were tasty as always. Then it was back to the Old Mill for a wonderfull dinner of crab claws.

Day 3- Wednesday After breakfast at th Old Mill, Connie and I said our goodbyes to our mates who were going to spend another night in San Quintin. We headed north to La Bufadora for another look and some shopping. We had won a free nights stay at the House of Rainbows from last years book signing. The Hotel is behind and just north of La Fonda. Our most gracious host was Catherine Farrell. She placed us in the Asia room which is not a room but rather a suite. It has a full kitchen, living room, bathroom, and bedroom. The furniture, decor, and stained glass is incredible. Once we were settled in, we went over to the Pyramid to visit Keri and Mike. They are doing very well and looking forward to the upcoming book signing.
We then went to La Fonda for dinner which was one of the best meals that we have ever enjoyed.

Day 4- Thursday After breakfast at La Fonda, we packed up and said our goodbyes. The trip back to San Felipe was very pleasant.
