vehicle opinions

OK all yous experts...here's the deal. We are byuing a lot for our dream surf/love-shack about 15 miles out the unpaved East Cape road from SJdC. We are going to want to make regular trips into town for supplies (liquor) and such, but the road can be a washboard pain in the butt. So, if you were going to spend somewhat less than $8-9K on a used car, what would you buy for this use? We want somethig that will haul about 5 people and the groceries out of the dust. A vehicle that would not fall apart after a few high speed, or low speed for that matter, runs would be ideal. 4X4 might be nice, although not manditory, and I know about BFG tires. What's the verdict?

No b-tchin\' in the Baja.

For me there is only one good choice and that is because I put 157,000 miles on one in and Around Baja.

1993 to 97 Jeep Cherokee with 6 Cyl. 4wd. After all those miles I only had to replace the Outside rear Wheel bearings because I tend to overload the Rear.{$85.00} No other repairs at all, just service every 4,000 miles.

sounds like your between playa cruz and vinarama, because of the amount of people you require to take i pick a older suburben diesel. good milage and heavy enough to run the roads fast. i've spent 20 years in that same area(zachatios behind the little store) and we run toyotas, vws and a suburben. we have one down there that may be comeing up for sale if your interested.

Best vehicle

I have a van for sale that has been tested on every road in south Baja. It has a couple minor problems but most cars do down here.
The key is, you can watch TV and eat ice cream no matter where you are in Baja.
