Got a Phone Call from Baja... (BillB)

'BillB' doesn't post much, he's a busy guy from Dallas, Texas. But, Bill loves to explore Baja with his Rokon 2WD motorcycle, and he is spending a month right now doing that.

His primary goal is to repeat the exploration by Erle Stanley Gardner in 'Hovering Over Baja' and get into Arroyo Sal Si Puedes ('Get out if you can') with his trail bike. Bill also wants to find other trails and recently hooked up with Corky and Max (McGyver) to try and get from Nacho's (El Huerfanito) to El Marmol in Arroyo el Volcan (called Zamora in the Almanac), read Corky's post with photos in the Off Road forum.

Well, Bill called me this morning (3-21) from Cielito Lindo. He came to meet up with the Humfreville's and others for the Baja Bash there. Mike and Mary Ann didn't go, but Bill met Paulina and saw a few Viva Baja stickers on rigs.

Already, Bill has hooked up with Ralph at Santa Ynez, found the San Nicolas spring on the Camino Real, found the Franciscan (Serra's) cargo trail to Gonzaga, met again with Neal Johns (who is down there with John M looking for the Camino Real we haven't yet found), flew in a plane of a friend over Sal Si Puedes to find a route in. Bill also met Baja Bucko, who rides mules on the Camino Real... Bucko is going from La Purisima to Mulege this month.

Yes, Baja exploring is in high gear!

Don't know more than what I posted Mike... Bill just said he met his pilot friend who took Bill up for the recon over the dry lake and Salsipuedes area (remember we talked to you about it a couple years ago). Is the pilot named Tucker? Bill is still in Baja exploring another week... Is there a message you want passed? Email me.
