No word on if the distributor will simply distribute the film in the theatres first or not. The people close to the project aren't talking at all about it. I guess telling people if it was coming straight out to video would defeat the purpose of a good distribution deal.

I would love a screening for us Baja-fanatics in San Diego. What if we made our own Baja Film Festival, do you think they would come with the movie? Perhaps a screening of Bajo California, one of my Baja productions (bleh! :barf: ) and the Tracing Cowboys film??? If we could maybe get 100 people to attend, maybe they would bite??? What do you think???

The fish took a bite!

I just received an email from the Director of Tracing Cowboys, Jason Wulfsohn and he's interested in working with me to promote the movie. The distribution deal has been completed and the film will go to DVD and also Television in 2010 or later.

But, we can get a screening and I'd like to know if anyone is interested in helping me set this up? Send me a U2U or call my cell at (951) 255-1589.

Anyone here own or know a theatre owner in Southern California where the movie could be shown for a special Baja Nomad or Baja lovers private screening?

I would contact Hugh and Carol Kramer at Discover Baja Travel Club to see if their new location has a meeting room where the film could be shown.

I heard back from Hugh today...

"... Our new office does not have a large room for lectures and movies like the old location. We'll be checking out some possible space in the shopping center, but have nothing so far. I can't quite get a handle on the "Tracing Cowboys" movie from their website or the trailer, and not sure how much appeal it would have to the Discover Baja membership.

Keep me posted on any new developments. Many thanks.

Saludos,

Hugh"

I'll stick with planning 4WD trips to Baja.

I *WILL* buy the DVD and have Coco autograph it when Tracing Cowboys gets released in 2010.

It used to be on YouTube... fun seeing Gonzaga and Coco's Corner in a film, but the movie just didn't get too many excited. Ken Cooke is friend's with the actress, I think, so I also watched it for that reason.

I just bought Tracing Cowboys on ebay for $5 (incl shipping). Years ago, it got several great reviews for its artistic filming. Anyway, I also have Corazon Vaquero (65 min). I like the idea of having a Baja film festival. Like the underwater film festival - people can also feature their old slides, digital images of trips. Make it a pot luck. The Joyce Beers Community Center on University Ave. in San Diego could be reserved. Sell goods (Graham's books), collect a donation to pay for the room. Maybe a couple speakers about something Baja-related, trips offered by [ ] with a discount for signing up that night. Could be a really fun evening.

Don't forget the 1998 classic, "Bajo California: The Limit of Time"
It is a mostly visual movie and not a lot of Spanish. It actually starts and ends in English. There was a Sundance version with English subtitles we Amigos de Baja shared back in 2001.

Here is the full movie on YouTube:
