Why are there so many arroyos in Baja, Mommy?
Once upon a time, far, far, away, in a magical land,
there were several puffy, white clouds in the sky.
From the smallest one, a single drop of rain fell upon the desert floor.
The little droplet was sad and lonely,
Then, it raised it's head toward the sky,
broke into joyous song, and sang
"Let my people flow!"
And that's why we have so many arroyos in Baja.
My motto:
Never let a Dragon pass by without pulling its tail!

I used to get like that
driving the back way up to Mt. Baldy as well! Too funny Neal!
Anybody know where this one is? The tree is a Zalate.

Looks like an easterly draining arroyo from the Sierra de la Laguna, but which one?

Although it's a difficult angle to tell, and the one pictured seems a little smaller than I remember it... it's probably the big zalate along the
Rural Coastal Road that so many folks like to camp under.
What say you, JR?

Several of the most beautiful of these can be found just south of Elias calles. There is an arroyo right before the big hump of Punta ballena around
the 83 - 84 Km. Turn up the arroyo and go about 2 miles and you will find a wonderful year round waterfall surounded by these trees. Climb up the
waterfall and hike into a fantastic little oasis. Keep going and you will encounter more falls and running water year round. A very magical spot.

That arroyo looks mighty familiar, JR....
could it be one of those I rode through on the way to the Bamboo Palace? I definitely saw the tree on that trip.

I've never met an arroyo I didn't like...
One of my favorites is; 'Arroyo Borealis'
Another is; Goin' to 'wash' that Arroyo right outta' my hair.
Or, how about; Up an Arroyo without a paddle.
And then there's; I'd walk a mile for an Arroyo.
And maybe;
There was an old Arroyo from Baja
Whose sand was as fine as it oughta (be),
Then down came the rain,
A downpour insane,
And washed us half way to Guatamela.

Folks,
I gotta tell you I just spent about an hour going through the pictures that JR posted on his starting of this thread.
Now, I wonder that he would talk to us mere mortals. Fantastic!!! JR when you talked about bamboo I could visualize nothing and now I can see why
you should be so damn proud.
Next time let Flaco take a picture of the lord of the manor,
