Somethin Went Down

Alleged Leaders of Arellano-Felix Drug Cartel Detained

Two alleged heads of the Arellano Felix drug cartel were arrested along with approximately 20 others suspected cartel associates in TJ on Thursday, 6/3/04. The two high-ranking members of the organization were identified as Efrain Perez Pazuengo and Jorge Aureliano Felix. Each had a US $2 million reward out for his arrest.

Among the others detained were current and former members of Baja California's state law enforcement. These include an evidence expert and ministerial police agents responsible for helping to prepare cases against criminal suspects.

Although articles in the Baja California press did not mention where the men were arrested, it is known that at least 50 federal law enforcement agents from the Agencia Federal De Investigaciones (AFI) were envolved in the operation. They were supported by personnel from the Mexican Army and state and local police.

Baja California's Attorney General Antonio Martinez Luna said although his Tijuana unit was asked to provide support for the arrests, he had not received word about any of his agents having been detained.

Early Thursday evening, those arrested were taken to a military base and flown to Mexico City aboard military transport planes. The transfer of those arrested to the airport was guarded by more than 100 police agents from federal, state, ands local government.

The Mexicali newspaper La Cronica reported that all of the men detained on Thursday were allegedly involved in last weeks robbery of 12 metric tons of marijuana in Rosarito, Baja California. In this instance, a group of armed men dressed as AFI agents demanded that the city police give them the drugs.

Guess they had to have a get-together with Jorge Hank Rohn.

Don't get your hopes up, the Arellano Felix organization is being decimated because the Zambada organization is now moving in to control Baja. Nothing will change, same flow, same violence, diferent bosses.

Hank is presumably not directly linked to any cartel, he is a money launderer, and will work with who evers pays him top dollar, i am sure he does not care whos money he his laundering, as long as he is making a profit.
