Promotion to NOMAD Rank

Congratulations (I guess). I've always been told that Rank
has it's privileges, but danged if I know what they are in
this case.
By the way, be sure that you perform according to the Nomad
Code of Conduct so you don't end up losing your stripe.
I must have violated a rule somewhere. I was a PROUD Nomad
with over 100 last Month, but I now find that I've been
demoted (Non-Judicial Company Punishment ?) to an unranked
Junior again with only 65 posts until now. Very odd. Wish
I knew what I've done wrong.
I'm SO ashamed.

Question

if you post nasty posts that are removed, does that reduce the number of posts and corresponding rank?

(not that I would do such things)

Your Nomad Status

MrBillM: You must have had several posts on the Off Topic Forum, which was recently 'cleaned up'. Yes, you lose the numbers when your posts are removed.

Doug (BajaNomad) explained this when he cleaned that one forum (which is 'time related') and explained your Baja subject posts are the ones that count, for keeps.

Poor AcademicAnachist was almost tied with me (over 1,000) when the cleaning dropped him a couple hundred points! As I rarely post in Off Topic, I didn't get to badly bruised!

jrbaja and SkiBaja is the same person, and if you combined his two totals he would be near the top. So changing handles doesn't help you with points.

I'm SO relieved

Now that I know why I've been busted in rank, I can breathe
much easier.
As far as the accumulation of points goes, is there a catalog
where one can redeem their points for merchandise like a
cigarette lighter, jewelry, pens, etc or doesn't it work that
way ? They must be good for something, aren't they ?

redemption

I heard that you can get "Viva Baja" bumper stickers for 50 points,
100 points gets you a "Coco's Corner" and 1000 gets you a medal that sez "I think I spend too much time in front of the computer"

VIVA BAJA stickers

Well... 'Viva Baja' full size bumper stickers are still free for the asking (one per Nomad) no matter how many points you have. Just send me a SASE. Email to me for address is in my web site (listed at the bottom of my posts. For those in Rio Linda or West Palm Beach: SASE= self addressed stamped envelope (legal size).
