La Paz Fishing

I'm gettin' to be like a kid on Xmas Eve! Ten days 'till departure. We're going down for a week, booked four days of panga fishing, so we have one day free to surf fish or kayak fish.

Fantasy Target Species? Robalo, Pacific Snook.

Anyone here have any recent intel on fishing Bahia de La Paz? Should we rent kayaks, paddle to El Mogote and fish the North Shore? Fish the mangroves?

Are there ever roosterfish or toro at Tecalote in late June? My buddies have done well on sierra in early spring there.

Funny you shouls say Wahoo, Bajaloco, Ono were our Fantasy Target for Ten Years of trips every October!

What an obsession it was! It started with a pulled hook on our second or third Cabo trip. We hooked and lost three at Las Arenas in '97, followed by missed strikes, bite-offs, straightened hooks, failed knots and swivels-and finally gave we 'em the boat ride in 2002!

Obsession, a very powerful motovator it is! Wahoo fever started the "Gold-Reel-Arms-Race" with our crew.

Last October at La Playita, we saw a 35lb class snook working a school of sardinas between the breakers and the beach as were were launching pangas on our first day of fishing. Heck, I could have got him with a cast net, and kept my feet dry!

We got our wahoo two days out of three that trip, but didn't really work on Senor Robalo. We'll hit 'em hard in SJD in October!
