day trip to Chula Vista

Then we stopped by Godoy's for Mariscos and music. The food was decent and the atmosphere was fun. We were the only gringos there which we enjoyed a lot.
The music was supposed to start at 1:00 and the band was there but, typical musicians, we left around 2:30 and they hadn't started yet.
Still a good time for all of us and makes us want to head to Mexico pronto.
We would love suggestions for good , sit down Mexican restaurants in Chula.

Soulpatch,

If you like lamb try this place, it is small though.

Wow. Ken, that menu is making me drool. Wish I lived closer. Aside from the Cabeza de Borrego which somehow becomes (hole head) en Ingles, I was particularly impressed that they had a quesadilla with huitlacoche and squash blossoms. That is something bordering on gourmet.

There are a lot of good places in Chula Vista, but none seem to last more than a few years. You'll go back- and they're gone. I'd be interested in finding a few new sit-down places too.

Crazily- my Mexican nephews ask us to bring them back Carne Asada burritos and rolled tacos with guacamole from San Diego. Used to hit any drive-thru with a "to's" in it. Family in San Ysidro tipped us off to "Toms"...your food is still warm when you get home (or you eat it in the southbound border line wait), easy to get on/off at the 5, and it shares a parking lot with AA, so you can catch a meeting while you wait for your food.

Wow, $33 for a kilo of what is basically lamb carnitas. Baja still has it's advantages. I'm also not a huge cabeza fan and I hate it when a place uses the same grill and I can taste it on my beef. Just a personal taste thing. My family would only eat the cabeza ones... I thought they prohibited cabeza stateside due to Mad Cow- or is that why they use lamb? Just asking...

Another great place. However, perhaps you might have posted the link to their web site.

Crazy thing it's at the end of our street. I'll post a review shortly.
