Hey Mike, by chance did I win the big reel in the raffle? Maybe my buddy Cindy did, she kept telling not to enter because it was hers.

Was there a minimum weight on the dorado for the tournament?

It would be great to see some stats on how many entries there were and how many actual fish were caught/kept/released. This kind of information COULD be used to help make the case for keeping dorado a sportfish only catch.

technically, legally organized tournaments are supposed to turn in their catch stats to conapesca... I would like to see some stats as well.

the minimum weight in the tourney was 10#...1st place, charlie jetton, 33.7#, 2nd place, john macy, 27.2#, 3rd place, john dinning, 25#, and biggest other fish, marlin larsen, 16# cabrilla......i don't know how many fish were caught or released but do know a whole bunch of fish were caught...in our boat alone on the first day turned loose dozens of small fish and i know lots of other boats did also....pam, i will ask the committee about their stats....it was a really well run, organized tourney with lots of prizes and a great payout.

Mulegemichael, were anglers reporting seeing and/or hooking very many billfish during the tournament?

A lot of billfish were seen but most of the angelers didn't want to waste time with one so the billfish were avoided, if possible. I think there were a couple hooked not sure of the result. Jim

jim's right on; there were lots and lots of marlin/sails spotted but we avoided them like the plague.

Here is the distribution of Dorado that were weighed in. Remember there was a 10 pound minimum and not all anglers chose to weigh in all their eligible fish.

10-12.9 lb 10
13-15.9 8
16-18.9 9
19-21.9 5
22-24.9 4
25-27.9 2
18-30.9 0
30-33.9 1

Here are all the tournament stats:
There were 29 boats entered with 75 anglers. Sixty three anglers prizes and 74 general raffle prizes were handed out.

The big raffle winners were:

Booze Cooler Jack Risley
Daiwa 20 2 speed Big Game reel Tony Gunnall
Daiwa 50 2 speed reel Donna Garcia

The winning anglers were:

1st Place Charlie Jetton 33.7 lbs $6000 pesos
2nd Place John Macy 27.2 lbs $4000 pesos
3rd Place John Dinning 25.0 lbs $2000 pesos
Biggest other Marlin Larsen 16.0 lbs $2000 pesos (Cabrilla)

Big Fish Derby
Day 1 Stu Sherman 22.2 lbs $4640 pesos
Day 2 Charlie Jetton 33.7 lbs $4000 pesos

The Calcutta was won by Charlie Jetton, Linda Cornell, and Mateo Apodaca with fish of 33.7 lbs and 23.7 lbs.
The boat share of the pool was $5,150 pesos and the boat was bought at auction by Mike Reichner who won $36,050 pesos.

Remember many fish were released and anglers out of the running may not have weighed in their fish. That being said the distribution of weighed fish was:

10-12.9 lb 10
13-15.9 lb 8
16-18.9 lb 9
19-21.9 lb 5
22-24.9 lb 4
25-27.9 lb 2
28-20.9 lb 0
31-33.9 lb 1
