Great, interesting and what accomplishments!. As a 14 year old boy in Solana Beach I began to dive for abalone and enjoyed diving for many years. But I never was nearly involved as you. I was PADI certified in Texas.
Thanks for sharing.

Dean, thanks for all the background information and experiences. You've had one helluva ride so far! Kudos to you.

As you know, your late cousin, Jake, was a very good friend of mine for many years and a nieghbor in Coyote Bay. He was a true 32nd Degree Baja Character and is missed by all that knew him.

POMPANO,

Jake was..... in one word Unique!

In many ways we were alike others we were so different.

Both had a love for Baja. Both had a love of adventure over and above or in my case under and below the norm. I thnk it must have been a hidden family trait.

You, possibly recall his Cathy wife who moved to Baja with Jake? They divorced while living down there. She married a fellow Bajaphile and as I recall a member of your community, John Sturgis, a Hollywood movie director.

For some unknown reason to me they moved to San Luis Obispo, about seven miles north of our home in Pismo Beach. When I learned of her and john's move to a new location and so close I attempted to make contact with her, after all she was ex-family who I certainly enjoyed as a long term friend and relative. I was not suscessful in reaching her --but received a message from her sister that she wanted nothing to do with Bob's family and Baja!

I complied until I read of John's passing, so I sent her a condolence card, but did not expect nor receive a response. That was about 15 years ago

I have often wondered what ever happened to her. Any discussion about her and John was verbotten around Jake.

You have any knowledge of what happended to her after John's demise? I some how suspect she is no longer with us

Thanks for the memories of Jake, you were correct he was a 32 degree Bajaphile
