More on Hummers
For those in search of a "status symbol" or a way to make people pay attention to yer silly arse, I have come up with a much less expensive solution
than buying something that doesn't fit on the back roads of Baja.
Buy some old beat up truck from a neighbor, have Baja Bamboo build a rack for it, and you are guaranteed to see heads turn everywhere you go !
Talk about a conversation piece !! Every soldier at every revision was interested in it as well as every person in every gas station or store.
Now, I feel like people are paying attention to me and I get much better gas mileage to boot!

Now you've gone and done it!
Starting a whole new Statues Symbol. All those guys want the BAJA look. Sheeesh now we'r gona be seeing those things at the AUTOSPA's every saturday
and parked at the mall on sundays. I feel sorry for all those Hummer dealers. You are a true trend setter Jr.!

Hummer H3
I read an article the other day regarding an addition to the
Hummer product line, the H3. It will be a smaller SUV based
on the GM pickup truck chassis with a 5-cylinder gas engine
derived from their existing inline 6 selling in the mid 30k
range. This will be for people who desire the "status" conveyed
by the Ugly styling of the Hummer, but can't afford the price tag.

Humbug
There was a company building great fibreglass bodies for VW pan and engines called HumBug. Grill looked a little like the HV. Was really a well
made body - you could stand on the fenders with no bend. Guess what - GM threatened them so much the had to quit manufacturing them. Bah-humbug to

VW Hummer
I read an article years ago in Car & Driver Magazine regarding
Fiberglass kit cars, most based on VW Floorpans. Of interest
was the fact that the kit "Replicas" have to vary in specific
dimension and proportions so that they don't violate the original
manufacturers patents. Obviously, the VW Hummer didn't or they
simply allowed themselves to be bullied by GM, which would be
understandable considering their respective resources.
By the way, there is a gentleman in Rancho Percebu who has been
custom-building tube framed buggies on VW floorpans for years.
You see them everywhere in the San Felipe area. He calls them
"Barneys" because he got the idea from the Flintstones vehicle.

Yes, Don is a good friend of mine building the "Barneys" He's at about #52 now. He uses the VW front and rear suspensions as well as VW motors but
discards the VW floorpan. I've been working with him on the motors for the last few years. They are funny looking byt give a great ride and can
go about anywhere any of the other buggies go. We took 6 of them to Malarimo beach and Bahia Tortuga from San Felipe a couple years ago.
