Dometic LP Fridge Model RC2000 - reviews please

http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/app/2566837583.html

Does anybody have experience with this unit or similar? Are they any good?

Any other suggestions for a cheap used LP Fridge? Other thoughts/ advice?

Can you run these units on LP in the cab?

Thanks, Curt

Curt,

I think this is the one I saw in a guy's pre-runner down in baja. It was 12v and apparently works very well. We were talking to him and he had 2 Optima batteries in the car. With the 2 batteries he said he could run the fridge-freezer all night and still not kill the batteries.

Check it out:

Sorry this is not LP.....

Curt,

We had a Dometic like the one you posted, and to quote Dern, "It sucked".

We have a Fridge Freeze and swear by it. They are not cheap, but you'll never have to buy ice again.

Curt...

Don't know a thing about the Dometic...but the versatility of the 3 modes sure makes sense.

I DO KNOW that Tim - Desert Bull sure does like his Fridge Freeze and swears by it's cooling ability and reliability. He's dragged his all over Baja for years.

Though as Paulina says... "they are not cheap"

for $100 you would be happy keeping food cold and out of the melting icewater. i have a 3cu ft out of an rv that is awesome. it will freeze filets overnight and keeps a weeks worth of food cold. for something that will get used a week or 2 out of the year yours will be an upgrade over a cooler. bring blocks of ice in the cooler for the beer.

edit: my RM2400 gas/elec cost $125 with the Nomad discount. THANKS Comitan!

I have one that I got 10+ years ago and used in well ventilated camping van. They're set up to use the little Coleman cartridges and they go through those quite quickly. In camp we ran it off of a 20#barbecue bottle using an adapter hose - bottle sat outside. They're maybe too bulky and heavy for the cab of your truck. Keeps food cold but no freezer compartment. Comes with a little ice cube tray that sets on top of cooling coils. We paid around 400 for ours at Camping World.
