Gray Whales already travelling north
Yesterday was the "turn around" day for gray whales. In the morning there were whales travelling south and I was wondering if the turn around day
would be earlier this year.
It is usually one day for the next when it happens...all of a sudden, whales are heading north. Well, yesterday as I was practising my accordian at
the beach, I was surprised to see all whales had turned and were heading north...with a vengence too...they were bookin it. There were whales all over
the place...very very close to shore, a half mile out and as far out as the eye could see...probably a dozen at any one time...no mom's and
calves....must have been a big party somewhere for so many to travel in one afternoon...maybe the 7 sisters?

I suspect hat the whales heading North are the ones you saw coming South in early-to mid-December, Shari.
You have seen them more than I, therefore you would have the better intuition.

that's a 10-4 Capt. whales that arent calving return north sooner to eat...so these are males who have mated and females too young, in between kids
or too old to calf who are truckin northbound....oooh, there goes another one real real close....just outside the rock in front of our house.
