ATM in Baja?

Ken,
Why don't you hit an ATM in Mexicalli, ans skip having to pay a commision on "buying pesos"?:?:
Have a great trip down..I hope to be down in Loreto for the Mission celebration at the end of the month:tumble:

I'm with LaTijereta, the ATM is the best way to go for me. - get the best rates.

Otherwise, Imperial Street in Calexico 2-8 blocks form the old border crossing has probably 10 Cambio's. All post the rates - some charge comission (the ones that post the best rates). I've quit using them at the ATM is so much more convienient.

If you're coming thru San Felipe, the Seven Eleven Pemex has a ATM in the office. Also near the pool at El Dorado Beach Club is a ATM

Have a great trip

OK Lou, which station is the Seven Eleven Pemex... (you sure it's not the Am/PM Pemex  )?

a) On the right, entering town

b) On the left (northwest corner) at the traffic circle.

c) On the right (southeast corner) at the traffic circle.

d) On the way south, out of town, where the old Puertecitos road heads off.

:?::?::?:

Seven Eleven is on the right entering town a couple blocks beyond the arches. AM PM on airport road (where old Puertocitos Rd takes off) does not have a ATM. The two on the glorietta do not have ATM's either. Of course Bancomer down town on Mar de Cortez has one.

OK great... I have waited in line for the one and only (then) ATM at the bank, so a second ATM is a small improvement. I didn't realize the first Pemex mini mart adopted the 7-11 name  How long before Mexico has a Circle K???:?:

Well, David - they spell it all out, don't use the 7-11 numerals and it's not affiliated with the US version. I sometimes don't like the emplyees attitudes, but get money there (I ALWAYS use pesos for gas purchases) and go to the old one on the circle or the one toward the airport. The old one on the circle does not have diesel.

Sorry about your bad luck Jerry. I've had the ATS's be out of money but never keep the cards here.

OK, Here I go putting my 2 bits in! When did the New AM/PM take the ATM
out? There has always been one on the left behind the door as you enter!
The first Pemex on the right (west)as you enter San Felipe from Mexicali is the"SEVEN EELEVEN" its a Mexican joke, it roughly means buy some and go (rise up, raise) . Although it some times runs out of money I have never had a problem with it , just make sure you do not put in a NON- ATM card in it because then it will take it.

Guess I haven't heard of the one at AMPM - I've never been in it either - but I buy most of my diesel fuel at that Pemex

7-11, AM/PM

The 7-11 actually is written 7 - llevan. I was in there two days
ago to buy Tarjetas Prepago for my Telefonica Movistar Cel
Phone and their ATM is GONE. I used to use it when the only
other choice was Bancomer where there was always a line.

The ATM at the AM/PM/Pemex was still sitting there at Noon
today when I stopped on my way North to get a Gourmet Chicken
Sandwich.

Liquor Store ATM

I'm assuming that you are referring to Marinos. Interesting, I wasn't
aware of that since I haven't gone into Marinos in years. At one
time it was the only liquor store of consequence in San Felipe and
the only place you could find U.S. canned goods and supplies, includ-
ing a somewhat current L.A. Times. Unfortunately, they didn't keep
up with the growth and now there are numerous stores with better
supplies. Good to know that there is another ATM, though.

Hey Bill,

Went into Marinos last spring for the first time in many years. Used to get my insurance there for the trip home. Anyway,
I found they have the best cost for my Bacardi Anejo rum. They beat the liquor store next to the Red Lobster.

Good to know. I'll have to check them out again. It's funny how
you can get turned off from a place and never go back for years.

When the Mercado across from the Miramar Bar first opened many years
ago, it was the best in San Felipe and then went downhill. When some
friends mentioned it back in 02, I went in there and was pleasantly
surprised. I now shop at Baja Mercado as often as Sembrador. It pays
to go back.

Phantom ATM

I have no doubt you are correct. I do know that it was not in the location
where I used it last. I was in there buying phone cards and not looking to
use an ATM. I haven't actually used that ATM for almost two years. Good to
know it's still there, I guess.
