From north to south, there are 5 establishments.

1) Papa Fernandez... on the north end of Bahia San Luis Gonzaga (erroneously called Willard Bay by some) private homes, but open camping over the hill on Punta Willard, east from the restaurant there (see photo of John Wayne with Papa).

2) Alfonsina's... on the sand spit that connects to the island at low tide, south side of circular Gonzaga Bay, private homes, motel, restaurant (good shrimp and fish meals), no real camping areas unless you know a homeowner there... photo taken there... owns Pemex on main road, if closed, go next door to Rancho Grande for gas.

3) Rancho Grande... palapas just south of Alfonsina's property or open beach camping... store on main road.

4) Campo Beluga... palapa camping (this may be the place to go, check it out) at 1.2 mi. south of Rancho Grande.

5) Punta Final... private homes at the south end of Ensenada de San Francisquito (the larger of the two bays), but everyone just calls it Gonzaga!

Gonzaga is not that busy... I go there every Thanksgiving (or have the last two)...

Here are area site seeing photos:

unless he's built some more, all the palapas

at rancho grande have converted to leases and he is leased up. Beluga is your only real option IMO.

Camping Gonzaga

All camps mentioned are good. "Dicey" weather info also good. Have been there many times. Snowed on the beach with big time winds in the early 70's. Can also be calm with temps of 85 plus. Watch weather radar, have a good one.

Yes, Thanksgiving 2002, the year before my photo was wet one day and night! That year Chris and I explored some of the area's fascinating sites: http://vivabaja.com/1102/page2.html
