Mood: Love Baja

I find that getting into the US is always a moving target. We too were asked about the dog food. Too much and we might have bugs in it. I dont normally feed my dog bugs, but whatever. Also almost turned around because of too much mud on our mud flaps. Because we have a trailer we are almost always called into secondary. This last time was interesting. We had a trailer, but used our Sentri card in the regular lanes. No problem at all, let us right through. The Sentri should allow a little leeway since you have had a background check.

I read this in the Sentri book. When asked if you have anything to declare you are to tell them what you are bringing back, I.e., dirty laundry, dog, etc... You are not supposed to say nothing, just because you didn't bring anything back that you bought in Mexico. You have to give them a brief run down of what you have in your car.

We always get a car wash in Mexico before heading back if we did any mudding in the Tacoma... ever since we were warned that too much mud is grounds for denial into the USA... and nobody wants to get back into a 45 min. or longer line! Just think of all the bugs in that salty mud by Shell Island!

There's a thread in here about a list of things not to take across the border into So. Cal. Can't find it now. So!

What's interesting is we started out up way north of Seattle and crossing from Oregon into No. Cal, They have a control point and the same list.
Don't feel it's just Mexico to the US, it's US to US. :)

California is a huge agricultural State and they like to try and keep unwanted 'stuff" out, who can blame them.
