Auto security when driving down - do you use a steering wheel locking device "The Club" or other?

On my next trip I'll be driving down with expensive camera and SCUBA gear staying in both hotels and camping.
What steps do others take to ensure security of car loaded items?

Always use a locking device
and if you have an alarm use it also. NEVER leave anything in you car in plain site. In Mexico your car and anything it is fair game. Take it from one
who knows. I've had two cars stolen in 8 years here in Baja. This time I'm putting a kill switch on also. k

The best deterent to car theft is to leave the windows down about halfway so that the dog you left in the car has adequate ventalation and can grab a
piece of skin!
I have even left the keys in the ignition, and the doors unlocked and never had a problem. It works well at checkpoints too.
Of coures, it may help to have a truck that no one wants to steal too.......

right on the head! dogs and crappy vehicles are my specialty. Plus, it cut's down on collisions when they see you are ready for them and the cars
beat up anyway.
Best advice, stay away from touristy areas.
If you must go to those, find a Mexican family to park by, they are everywhere.
And like everywhere, don't leave things in sight for the thieves to see.

Has anyone heard...
... of a case where a car was stolen even when a Club was attached?
They sure seem like the best alternative in terms of price and ease of operation.

They are stealing cars with tow trucks here and in other places nothing works for that . Also a snide meat ball drops the dogs in about 10 seconds

My vehicle is equipted with a 'kill' switch, an alarm, a club---and insurance to cover its loss---It HELPS if you don't drive a Lincoln Navigator or
some other vehicle that the folks in Mexico--or Latin America want.
They cuss us but they sure make money by 'misapproiating' our property.
Yea I am bummed that Baja is changing--too damn many people from Mexico City and the mainland without the same ethics of the real Baja People. Hang
onto your hats. Cause you ain't seen nothing yet.
