Ens - San Felipe - HI 1

I'm driving the length of the peninsula with two weeks to meet a friend in Cabo on Sept 1. I would like to try the mex 3 route from Ensenada, with a stop in the San Matir park, and continue on to San Felipe, Puertocitos, and then connect with highway 1 to the south. I have a 2 wheel drive toyota tacoma (in good condition) with standard clearance. How is this road for a small pickup? Any suggestions/warnings?
Thanks a lot
Adam

The only problem I see with your plan is to visit the 'San Martir Park', as you call it. With a 2WD Tacoma, you should be able to get to Mike's Sky Rancho from Hwy. 3 (if it hasn't rained). However from Mike's up to the Observatory road is better done in 4WD. Best for you to get up to the park from Hwy. 1 at San Telmo, on another trip. I have some photos of the park and pine trees at the end of http://davidksbaja.com/davidlorenzo

The road from Mikes to San Telmo road is pretty jacked up now. This due to the recent fires and subsequent rains in the area...

San Telmo road itself is in good shape from H1K140 all the way up...
