Albergue

I came across this word in something I was reading the other day and it looked familiar, but I just couldn't place it, so I did some research.

Ya gotta love how descriptive and common sense the various meanings in Spanish can be.

"albergue [al-ber’-gay]
noun

1. Lodging or lodging-house. (m)

2. Den for wild beasts. (m)

Albergue para jóvenes -> youth hostel"

\"La vida es dura, el corazon es puro, y cantamos hasta la madrugada.” (Life is hard, the heart is pure and we sing until dawn.)

\"Alea iacta est.\"
—Julius Caesar

The word is often used to describe the many facilities all over Mexico that exist to house school children for primary and secondary school who have no good other way to reach the teaching facility. These internado serve as places where young students can have meals/baths/beds in safety from Monday nights till Friday mornings when their parents pick them up to take them back to the far flung ranchos and farms till the following week begins.

Oh, no-- New Mexico jokes.

Teacher to her mostly-hispanic group: "OK, class, you have the rest of the period to write a short essay. Please leave quietly when you're done."

In two minutes, Pablo hands her his paper and walks out of the class.

Written on the paper: "Toney Anaya".

Had to google him. Before my time, only been here 10 years this November. Seems like quite an inovator, deeply educated and consciencious towards the State (can't say the same for B.R.). So i take it he was only 5'2" tall? j/k, bb. :D

Well...who didn't know that. I don't even know why the question came up.
