Blood, any type, needed in La Paz for a friend

Hi folks, our friend Eduardo Villegas will be operated on tomorrow, 3/12/14 and needs any type pf blood donated.

Being a diabetic on medication, I am devastated that I cannot donate blood, which I did in the States for years.

He was riding his bike and took a nasty fall.

The hospital is the Nuevo Hospital ISSSTE here in La Paz. Hopefully, you know where it is, cause I don't.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help out! Blanca

We shall be visiting Eduardo today as he is getting his operation done today. We were shown the hospital but since I am not familiar with the area, I don't have the address and for some reason it does not show up on the hospital webpage (This is Mexico......deep breath ....)

I will post pics and the teens we sponsor here in La Paz will also be donating.

we did indeed visit Eduardo today and he was in very bad spirit...he has been waiting for his operation since last Friday

his ipad got dropped and the front shattered and he had no access to the internet, no TV and no book. I left him my ipad ..he was smiling when I left (((:

the college kids went in the pm to donate blood- they had to fast 12 hours before donating, since they had class this morning they went to school first - only to discover that the hospital only accepts donors in the mornings between 8 and 9 am. grrrrrr!@#$%^&U

For everyone's information in case you want to visit someone one day-

HOSPITAL RULES

no sandals or flipflops - I had to borrow my friends too big shoes to go up
11-12 and 3-4 visiting hours
only one visitor at a time
no shorts or even capri's. long pants only.

If you are scheduled for an operation and they get an emergency, you get pushed back days and days. This is what is happening to Eduardo. Since he is a teacher, he asked the union lawyer to put in a call to the hospital to hurry up the process. He was scheduled for today but they did not have the clamps he needs put inside his wrist to fix it .... so he will perhaps be operated on tomorrow. Perhaps ISSSTE is not such a good option for health services.

BTW I did hear from Eduardo's wife that the Salvatierra hospital for seguro popular is considered to be quite good with lots of specialists.
