Hey, I worked hard on this!
My little song got buried in JR's rant on Gringos. I thought sombody would remember the old song "Ringo" about the gunslinger. Maybe I'm the only one
who remembers perfectly stupid, useless songs from the distant past, and is silly enough to actualy re-write them for an equally inane effect!
So common! I need my strokes. Isn't that why we (some of us) post here so everyone will think we are clever?
Verse l:
He lay face down on the desert sand
Clutching a six-pac in his hand
Too much tequila, I thought he was dead
Looking more rumpled than an unmade bed
But a spark still burned, and I liked his wife

When I finally saw him smile
He slowly lowered his glass, and then

I blocked the path of his retreat
He turned and stepped into the street
A taxi knocked him to his head

I thought your lyrics were a hoot
Didn't connect the melody until you mentioned the song 'Ringo' (buried somewhere deep in my cerebral cortex?). Do you do this (songwriting, lyricist)
for a living?

Glad a couple of you remembered the song. No way I'm a lyricist, although I play around with it a bit...usually poems for family occasions etc. I've
got a re-do of Thanks For The Memories ready for my retirement party.

I remember Ringo! Very clever indeed! Do not take it personally....Many, many posts get buried in JR's rants on Gringos!

Good job, el jefe. I had the tune as soon as I started reading the words. Didn't remember the name Ringo tho. Keep the songs coming.

Great great job Tom!
One of the fun things to read is how a few talented people, such as yourself, can take something like a song or poem, and work 'Baja' into it!

Great work
I had the tune right away but didn't remember Ringo. But I did see John Wanye while I was humming along. Enjoyed this immensely. More please.
