Abandoned TB hospital near Santiago
we are planning an adventure to the old abandoned TB hospital near Santiago.
We have the coordinates, but We were wondering if anyone has been there recently and can tell us a bit more information on road conditions etc.
any information is greatly appreciated!

I have been there several times, pretty interesting area. Do a search on this site to see some of the photos. It is on private land and pretty well
fenced. Roads are typical.

The T.B. Hospital story from the link, translated:
In the solitude of the Baja California desert, peaceful among huge rocks and vigilant cardons, right on the edge of the Sierra de La
Laguna Biosphere Reserve, an imposing person who slept waiting to fulfill his function: the hospital of the "Carrizalito" a work carried out by the
then governor of the Territory of Baja California Sur, General Francisco J. Múgica (1940-1946), carried out with the purpose of serving the
inhabitants who had contracted tuberculosis, a contagious disease that struck 23% of the population of the peninsular territory.
However, the destination ran another address for this property, since for the year 1947 is when the antibiotic is discovered for the treatment of this
infection, leaving unnecessary this great health infrastructure, which never opened its doors and was delivered to abandonment , the rust occurred
between hinges, rails and gates of the time, the walls were covered in mold, wasp houses and messages from other visitors from other decades who came
to admire this building.
A silent interior deadens the senses of those who walk contemplating the corridors, trying to interpret the spaces destined for healing, today spaces
for the appreciation of a work that will remain as a vestige of the architectural past of our land.

JZ, go to the other thread on this (Jack Swords link, above). In there, I posted Google Earth images with the GPS shown.
It is a thread called "Need help with this location" in the Off Roading forum by DT.IN.LB.BAJA.

well it turns out the place is haunted.
from an anonymous source last year......
I do not have documented data, only legends of people and the ranchers around and apparently there is a component that is not mentioned and that the
abandonment of this hospital was due, in part, to special situations, supernatural or unknown place, example, it is said that one of the reasons why
the doctors left, is because at night there were unexplained things like noises, laments, things fell, doors were locked and the beds where they slept
dawned or moved the pillows on the feet and other things that were not explained as they happened. There are many legends that have no explanation of
this and other sites around the region.

Have been at the hospital several times about 12 years ago was the last. If you can find your way in from the south you will probably be able to get
in, from the north side it depends on the ranchers. Rumors were that the directors had buried gold in the house on the hill, so most of the floors in
side are dug up. They have tons of water up behind house with small reservoir. The views are fabulous

from another anonymous source.....ever notice how every mexican story features hidden gold! 
I was in the hospital seriously my grandfather took us I was very afraid to be there but luckily we were in a very beautiful family the place and also
the view. What I liked most was that there is still the way of pidras that leads to the laboratory that is seen in the hill, but the bad thing that in
the laboratory there are huge unnatural holes because it is said that there is gold on the roof in that place but it is very nice

That's the government's story. The real story about those holes is a meltdown of the experimental nuclear pile (reactor) that was supposed to power
the complex, and also a planned port near Las Barriles. Enrico Fermi did the initial designs, followed by Mexican-German engineers who worked there
on site, before the disaster. Of course, the coming war meant the end of that project, and because of the Cold War, it was all covered up with the TB
hospital story. The water reservoir was to cool the reactor core.
It was rumored that the facility was hastily being converted to research the debris found in Roswell, NM, July, 1947, when the meltdown occurred.
Apparently they were trying to restart the fission process when the "event" happened. A massive cloud of hydrogen was released and exploded, blowing
holes in walls and floors. No one was killed or injured, according to my source.
I'd assume there is a lot of trace radiation still present. Be careful.
