I was told a RUMOR from an ex-pat living south of San Flip that it's one of Carlos Slim's ventures. As to the rest, "Quien sabes? Quien Qieres?"

On some maps, the mines there have names: 'La Fortuna' and 'Buena Vista' (before being re-opened).

David is correct about the historical names
Now days Here is a read

Empresas Frisco, SA de CV, is a subsidiary of Grupo Carso SA de CV, which is owned by Carlos Slim.
http://www.minerafrisco.com.mx/ES/Nuestro_grupo/Paginas/Hist...
http://www.blueroadrunner.com/Epinions/goldmine.htm

It was reported in the financial publications that Slim made a profit of 89B USD as a result of the IPO for Frisco/Curoso. Made him the richest man in the world for a time.

The Spanish language version of bingo is Lotería. Played with images instead of numbers and letters.

Playing Lotería is a great way to learn, and practice, your Spanish. Especially while sitting poolside in Baja.

So right! I've always thought the characters were a little disturbing for a kids' game, though. Racial slurs, death, the drunk . . .
