I watched some videos this afternoon and all of a sudden Excide stopped working. I got it back up but it was REALLY slow and had to go back to Hughes.

I have a wireless router coming this week...
it's a router that limits the data use per day

the software inside is the trick
it limits "the kids" from FAPing you in a day or two

i'll post a report how it works

this FAST internet is a "deal with the devil"
it works so well you download a lot more each page

the "unlimited data" plan that is available in some parts of the usa is not available here...yet...
when it is...this FAPing problem will be a thing of the past

Alm, a company, Internet4baja, has purchased satellite space on one of the Mexican Satellites and is routing their service through that. So when you sign up with them, it is a different version of Excede and not to be confused with what is offered in the US.

It not just "you". It's "them" who make you download it. More and more garbage on every page. In the past it was just picture ads and links, now it's all jumping up and down, moving animations, screens with videos opening etc. The higher the speed, the more they are trying to put on the web, and it slows down and makes you craving for more speed. Satellite users suffer the most.

To brush Jim's info up a little, if I may: internet4baja is not a company, it's a username for posting here at Nomads. The company website is satelitedelnorte.com though it doesn't see to work. From what I recall now, they do exist :)

Perhaps I'm getting too old, but,

May I ask...

What is Fapd?

The google definition is masturbation.

FAP stands for Fair Access Policy. http://legal.hughesnet.com/FairAccessPolicyGen4.cfm

It's a temporary reduction in speed caused by exceeding your monthly data usage allotment under your satellite provider's plan. Depending on what sort of websites you're visiting, it very well could be associated with masturbation.
