Darryl Gunter R.I.P.

Just about anyone who came to Todos Santos and had a drink at Shut up Franks or Chill n Grill knows Darryl Gunter. He was a famous hot air balloonist from Albequerque, NM who moved to Mexico 20 or more years ago. He used to have the most beautiful birds and he always fed whatever bird or animal came near him. He had a heart of gold.

Darryl was my constant dinner companion who I personally will miss more than I can say. He was a heavy smoker and drinker and the emphysema just caught up with him. This past 2 weeks he has had a very hard time breathing and just getting around. Unfortunately (or fortunately) he chose to take his own life Thursday evening April 16th. R.I.P. Darryl. I miss you.

So very sorry for your loss. I respect the decision he made for himself, but it doesn't make it any easier for friends and family. :(:(

May he now rest in peace.

You're right. He is in peace and I am so very happy that he is not suffering any more. I am the one who is suffering. I miss him horribly. He was such a dear friend. It's very hard and I find myself in tears constantly. What a gentle and kind soul he had.

Sounds as though he was in a place of his own choosing from beginning to end.
DEP, Darryl.

We have lost many of the old locals from Franks and Darryl was one of the family. Glad you were a close friend, Amiga. He loved the eateries and bars of Todos and was an interesting man. Ill raise a toast to a kind man. Go in Peace. Tomas

I will also raise a glass to Darryl. He was a common fixture around TS from the first days that I spent there. Favourite memory...steak night at Barb's La Canada del Diable. RIP Darryl.
