Fishing Report for Bahia Asuncion

The water temps are up to around 77-78 which has the abalone fishers worried for next season...today they are diving to see how they are faring in this warm water...no more kelp after last year's El Nino. We are also experiencing warmer than usual air temps too and has even been up to 90 before the breeze kicks in.

Our guests from San Diego didnt get into big fish but they were happy with their 9 yellowtail, many bonita and barracuda and had a nice day on the water for their first time here. The sea lions are being real pests in most fishing spots so they headed up to San Pablo to avoid them...but the fish are everywhere and close to shore.

Mark Hupp gave Juan a really cool gadget he designed to successfully release and return rock fish down to their home so that the rockfish species remain sustainable. It is a really cool invention that every fisherman should have aboard...very simple and easy to use. The RokLess boats an 80% success rate for fish survival...get yours at www.ecoleeser.com!!!

It was pretty cool that Blake, the fellow with the fancy legs...caught his first yellowtail and hauled in a bunch of them...spaghetti arms!

There was also a chupacabra sighting here....(a Nomad amigo chupacabra!)!)

this dude is totally low maintenance...I love his fishing rig...a long board with his rod...and he caught a ton of calicos and brought one home for us for lunch!

here he is landing on our beach...

Chupacabra is a master shore fisher who was delighted to be catching fish every cast at many different beaches..corvina, corbina, halibut etc.

It has been reported that dorado and tuna are starting to show now too so we are looking forward to an excellent fall season...after we get those pesky hurricanes out of the way!

anyone heading our way...please bring extra salas 6X juniors for Juan...that is the hot lure these days! fish are deeper in the cooler water so jigging is the game!

I am running short of the blue and whites also here in Asuncion but have been having the same success with the green and white and the mint green. Not so much with the scrambled egg for me.

6 of each colour, the blue and white and scrambled huevo...if you can...hmm interesting that the green ones are working for Ross.

the guys got into some bigger fish today...near 25 lbs and it was a perfect day on the water except for the stinkin sea lions that pestered them.

some of you may recognize this beautiful fishing spot...a classic for getting stuck...good thing Juan had his super duper tow rope!

they continued on to La Bocana and had a fun day catching grouper right where the boats launch!

There are definitely some tankers around lately. Hooked one today that I could tell immediately was a big fish. Got him to within 50 ft of the yak and seemed to suddenly realize he was hooked. Took off on a run that melted 100 yds of spectra from my reel in about 20 seconds and into the rocks.

Yes If you can find other colors why not just spray some blue paint on them I've done it in the past.
