North Coast and Redwoods
Our trip to San Ignacio was derailed because of a stupid health issue, so off to the Redwoods we went. Off season is the best time to be there and we
never tire of that part of the world.
Our trip included the beautiful northern California Coast, several areas of protected Redwoods, the Lost Coast, a bit of the Oregon coast, botanical
trails and on the way home, the Sacramento Wildlife Refuge. As always, we just traveled as the spirit moved us. :-)
These are just a very few images from our trip.

The Crescent City Lighthouse. We lived there for a short time over 20 years ago and it has changed and all for the better. We loved it then and
would move back if it was not so isolated and if there was better health care close by.

Ah, the magnificent old growth redwood forests --- thanks goodness the federal and state government has preserved them as once they are logged, they
never return. And our favorite drive through one of these virgin rain forests is through the Stout Grove in the Jedidiah Smith State Park.

Once again, we paid our respects to the Cobra Lilies in California that we always enjoy. And one of them has become the dominant king.

Okay, more pictures than I planned, but only a few of the ones we took. And as always, to end it, here is our faithful traveling companion. He is 14
now and his age is showing in many ways, but he is still with us.

Thank you for looking and for any one who has not experienced the giant redwoods, well, it is worth putting on a bucket list. We have been there many
times and it is always wonderful and different.

I love that part of the country, when we lived in Ukiah, we took the lost coast road frequently...going north fom Fort Bragg keep north instead of
going to 101 at Leggett...amazing.....Benbow! Thanks...

Thanks for the nice comments ---- such a beautiful area.
BornFisher --- enjoy and do take your rain coat. The weather up there changes by the hour. Takes lots of pictures---we have LOTS.
Wessongroup, as always, Tommy says WOOF right back. 
Chuckie, we have not done that part of the road for a few years. This trip we did go out to the Lost Coast via Ferndale and then back inland through
the Humboldt Redwood Park. Years ago, we used to find that area a bit unfriendly, but I guess the growing of cannabis is so accepted now, as it
should be, that they are now quite friendly and don't give one that keep on driving look.

Martyman, thanks and yes, Mendocino is beautiful this time of year --- always need that jacket on the north coast. We just love that weather.

gorgeous. love the green, the wet, the mist...so different from whale lagoons, drought, desert...

PS- my travel dog is also 14 (?- hard to know for sure w/rescues). as the years add up, I cherish every day/outing/trip with her!
