GoFundMe:team Angel Martinez, Los Barriles: outboard motor innovation

From the Baja Pony Express:
Send Team Angel Martinez to Peru ! Did you see the article in the East Capers or the May 2nd issue of Gringo Gazette? Well we need to get the funds together to get our own Los Barriles boys to the International Science Contest in Peru. Please donate to Pay Dennis or you can go to GoFundMe at the link https://www.gofundme.com/teamangelmartinez (and yes it is working now) We are 1/9 the way there, so lets keep this going and get them to Peru. Help us get LB High School on the map with the caliber of students they are putting out! If you have questions, contact me jonandchris@juno.com. Thanks for donating!!!

ELECTRIC OUTBOARD MOTOR DEVELOPERS- A HIGH SCHOOL TEAM- (Team Angel Martinez) NEEDS HELP TO GO TO INTERNATIONAL TECHNOLOGICAL CONTEST IN PERU.

Great minds and ideas don't always come out of the great universities or Fortune 500 businesses of the world. They can also come out of the minds of 4 teenagers (all seniors, Angel Martinez - Los Barriles, Andres Lucero – from Boco del Alamo, Jesus Castro Garcia – from Los Barriles, and Osvaldo Locero Robles – from El Cardonal) from small rural towns in the East Cape Baja California SUR, Mexico. In the East Cape , which is 60 miles north of Cabo San Lucas is a small high school where 4 friends, self described 'nerds', wondered if they could come up with a environmentally clean and less expensive way to run outboard motor for the prevalent fishing industry that is a huge employer to the youth of this area. They did not really have any experience with anything like this, but they had a desire to solve this problem. They went to their teacher Juan Ortega Cordero and told them of their plans to create this battery powered motor. Through a school science program they were given a motor kit and took that kit and turned it into a remote controlled motor and found a scaled down panga (boat) and did their test run...... And it worked! They then moved to a full size outboard motor and took out the gasoline motor and replaced it with a 12 volt battery that runs the same transmission and propeller and achieving 3 hp.
