Hola,

please...let us hope so. it seems...finally...the the mexican government is getting involved in a positive way.

killing a grand fish just for a small body part is completely ridiculous.

as a by product of this massacre, the Vaquita really does need a lot of help. it seems to me, catching the last few would be better served in an aquarium. HMMMMM...SEAWORLD !

just a thought.

It's a heartbreaking situation forsure. Scientists believe it may be too dangerous to net them and put them in captivity.
They really need their natural habitat to survive. Free from interference from man. So I guess pitching a few bucks to Sea Shepard might help. If they can stay on location 24/7 and get media attention maybe we can save this cool little porpoise.
And maybe help the Totoaba too.
I wish someday it will be legal to sportfish for Totoaba if they become plentiful again...
It could happen...

Save your money. Sea Shepherd can't change the pattern of their reproductive cycle. There aren't enough Vaquita left to regenerate the species, and the remaining numbers will die off from natural and other causes faster than they can generate replacements.
Where was Sea Shepherd when the Vaquita needed them?

In the Sea Shepard literature it states there are 25 eligible females left. That ain't enough? My Vaquita math isn't that good.
I think I am going to buy 1 of their little pirate flags. They have a cool logo.
Even Sea Shepard calls it a miracle if it happens.
What I like about these guys is they are startng to go after fish poachers too. So there is more to protect than the Vaquita DENNIS.
Where the hell was everybody when the Vaquita needed them?

Fraid not, Mike. They breed only once every two years and their life in the wild will legitimately wipe out the numbers before they can rebuild a " functioning society".
Netting Totuaba wiped out their numbers. Maybe ask China why they can't live without Totuaba bladders to keep their teeny weenies active.

They seem a bit gulible, hanging on to myths. Along with shark
fins, black bear organs, Rhino horn. Heard the Totuaba hatchery in Ensenada
released some juvinille fish recently at Puerticitos, they will
probably be on their way to Asia in a few yrs. Understand
Paul Watson Sea Shepard in living in So. France, under some
sort of protection from International an arrest warrent. Seems
everyone with any conscience should be on board with Sea
Shepards mission

Yeah, this situation really needs to be brought to light. Sea Shepards are the only Org I know of that is helping.

Not a new issue. The government, who claims control of the fishery, has permitted the outcome.
Sea Shepherd is just a late-comer....and they know it.
So why now? Might it be the money that follows the emotional turmoil?

Saving whales was/is all about emotional turmoil. Isn't every cause about emotional turmoil?
Think little boy from Aleppo. If that photo of him wasn't emotional...
It may be too late for the poor little Vaquita. But it was/is a cause that created emotional turmoil and now Sea Sheppard has a presence in the Sea of Cortez and there are many causes to fight for there.

They do their best fighting in international waters.

Bet they had one of those "Research permits". And they'll probably buy their boat back for a peso.

Sorry of I sound a bit jaded but I am.
