Sneak Look at the newest book from M & E Books!

Hot off the press!
There are a few pages about the Camino Real in Baja and that it begins at Loreto. However, this book with its many maps and photos is primarily about the old road and its history in Alta California.

Use the web page and PayPal buttons for this new book, or you can order it with a check or money order:
M & E BOOKS
PO Box 20121
El Cajon, CA 92021
$22.95 + $3.50 U.S. address shipping = $26.45 (tax is included)

The new Camino Real book is bigger than our Old Missions or my Baja California Land of Missions books in order to easily see the many historical map details it has.

Max emailed me this after seeing the post here:
As far as the new book remarks you might want to add: 8 1/2" x 8 1/2", 209 pages, over 40 maps, and 60 pictures.

Just a note, we have sold out two of the classic books we offered:
1953 'Baja California' book and the 1974 'There It Is: Baja!'
However, we added a new 'semi-classic' book. It is Tom Miller's 1992 edition of The Baja Book III...

Available now for $20 (included tax and U.S. shipping) Check or money order to our El Cajon PO box. Specify "Baja Book III" on your check or note.

ERRATA
The book Baja California Land of Missions is now in its fourth printing and I made a few edits in the third and fourth printings. Because I want this book to be the most accurate, easy to use reference to the 27 Baja California missions, I will share any edits or newly found typos here.

August 2017 Update:

Pages 38-40, the white cross monument for Ligüí has been washed away by flash floods since the 2012 photograph. There is no marker, but the mission was in the center of the now widened arroyo, 0.5 mile east of Highway 1.

Page 64, change '20 more miles' to 15.5 more miles.

Page 70, the goat ranch 'La Capilla' is on the mission site and rancher 'Modesto' welcome visitors to take photos. The Apate mission location can be seen from the edge of a cliff. The access to the cliff view trail is 17 miles beyond the La Pasión site. There are two other viewing points along the cliff.

Some 2016 and 2017 Printings:

Page 17, Mission #6 founding year is 1720 (add a 2 to '170')

The following edits appear in the 2017 printings:

If you have a 2016 printing:

Pages 118 & 121, change March to May (May 14, 1769) for the mission founding month.

Page 90, remove 'forty' and 'Loreto' from the second paragraph.

Page 90, bottom, change 'third' to second (The mission was moved a second time to its third location).

Page 26, the link to the Camino Real maps was changed after the book was written. The new link is: https://web.archive.org/web/20160329012947/http://www.sandie...
Also, the map links are updated at www.vivabaja.com

Thank you for helping me keep the mission history alive and accurate!
