El Rosarito or Guerrero Negro?
Greeting Nomads,
I'm pulling a boat from Phoenix to Loreto mid-February and taking HW 5 to San Felipe and spending the first night there. The question is should I
spend the second night in El Rosarito or push on the Guerrero Negro (assuming there is enough daylight.)

get an early start and push on to GN where there are lots more and better choices for accommodation...not a helluva lot in El Rosarito...buen viaje
and dont forget to air down and make sure everything is tikety boo on your trailer because stuff breaks on that bad washboard on trailers...make sure
the leaf springs are up to snuff and nothing is left to waggle about.

Air down to about 16-18 PSI. Depending on tires on the trailer...20+_PS!
There is a tire shop at the end of Lake Chapala where it meets with HWY 1 to air back up. Be sure to leave a nice tip.

San Felipe to Guerrero is a full days' drive, and totally doable. You won't even be going through El Rosario, it's almost 3 hours north of where
you'll be intersecting Hwy 1 southbound. Just get an early start and remember the Baja Golden Rule #1.... do not drive at night. And as already
stated, double-check all the welds on your trailer, especially spring shackles. There's a welding shop at the BOLA jct.
I don't have a BUCKET LIST, but I do have a F***- IT LIST a mile long!

I don't think the OP was talking about El Rosario, but Rosarito between Punta Prieta and Jesus Maria on Mex 1.

There is only one little motel in Santa Rosalillita and it has only 6 rooms, and those are currently booked by workers in the town. GN is the only
option.

To get to TERRA SAL, take the entrance into G Negro. It will be on your right and is one of the very first hotels.

Sf to gN
Did trip tues. Left SAN Felipe at8:00 gonzaga bay by10:00. Dirt 22 one hour 20 minutes, partner towing enclosed trailer. Guerro negro by3:30 or so.
Road is good ,waterholes gone worst last section chapala.
Gas and diesel and some beverages but no ice in gonzaga. Breakfast at alphonsinas

But don't eat at Terra sal!
Ugh!
Very poor food!
Go to malarimos for good food, and an ambiance! (Terra sal is clean, but barren and sterile, bleak!)

Just beware the vados between San Felipe and Puertecitos, arguably more dangerous than the road from Gonzaga to Hwy 1, especially towing something.

If it's warm/hot make sure to ask for a room with AC at Terra Sal. We were too tired and didn't care but it was warm.

the food at malarrimos, for us, has been terrible the past couple of years....and the rooms are in shambles...just has fallen into hard times...we
stayed there for years and years but now avoid the place.
dyslexia is never having to say you\'re yrros.

Did San Felipe to Guerrero Negro 3 days ago. Hwy. 1 has lots of pot holes.
Not towing, but here are my times:
San Felipe ... 12:24pm
Puertecitos ... 1:23
Gonzaga Bay ... 2:06
Hwy. 1/Chapala ... 3:15
L.A. Bay jcn. .. 3:41
El Tomatal checkpoint ... 4:22
Jesus Maria ... 4:40
Gasoline and taco stop (Kassandra's) to 5:07
State border, 20 peso spray fee:5:29/6:29 MST. Guerrero Negro is 2 miles further.
So, 5 hours with taco stop.

Have had the shimp boston off the menue the last couple of times at Terra Sal, was satisfied and of course cold beer is cold butbeer..
Don't recall what the bride had but no complaint from her with the meal.
Had breakfast once and was typical eggs, bacon, etc.... hot coffee..
the new rooms on the back second floor are crazy,, with inside parking spot...
also pet friendly rooms.... so no complaint with us yet...

If you are towing and want secure park in GN. Pasado Don Vicente is were you want to be. Most times there's enough room to pull straight into the
secure parking and flip it around. I have also backed into lot.
It's old, clean and cheap. All the newer hotels are way over priced and open to rata-landia.
