Just read the news; was an integral part of my life. They say a person doesn't really die until their name is last spoken.... Gregg will live forever.

Probably my 1st rock band... got some 2nd hand records from my sister.
When my best friend was killed in a car crash when we were 19 my other buddy bought his harley from his grieving family. Later he had a custom "Midnight Rider" tribute paint job put on it.
Yeah it meant that much to us.
Ride on Gregg...

RIP Gregg, we also lost Butch Trucks (drummer) this year, sad.

Here is my favorite version of this song, with Duane playing slide guitar.

I was in college in North Carolina in the late 60's and the Allman Brothers came and played in a local nightclub a couple of months before they went national.

Unforgettable experience to see them before they were known across the nation and were at their height before alternative substances took their toll.

Magical does not describe the evening with all of them at the best. I still get the chills from so many of their songs , and of course Southbound is always a favorite.

I have a musician friend in San Clemente that moved out here in the early 80's from NC and he and his band play a few choice Allman Brothers tunes every time they play at the Coyote Bar and Grill in Carlsbad. It just so happens they are playing next Saturday afternoon outside on the patio. I will be there. Come on down.

Missed hearing them in concert when it was cancelled after Duane was killed on motorcycle. But, they were such a part of our rock and roll life in Texas in the early 70's. Man, that was some great music and still is.

My wife just hates it when I start singing "Tied to a whipping post"

An Allman brothers concert was like an endurance event, Geez that was some serious FUN.

Some PEACE for Duane & Butch, amen brothers

A great history of the Allmans in their prime is "Please Be With Me" written by Duane's daughter Galadrielle Allman.

Fun to think they are all jamming somewhere again - Duane, Greg, Berry, Butch....guess they are waiting on Jaimoe & Dickey.

Saw them in Charlotte, NC in an outdoor concert when I was 12. Duane was still alive. Amazing night!

Probably saw the Allman Bros Band 10 times starting in 1975. I'm a little too young to see Duane but sure loved his tasty slide playing.
The last few times I saw Greg play he had his organ chops back and his vocals were fantastic. I was in a band for a while and our encore was always Whippingpost. One of the greatest rock bands of all time.
