Thanks for the help on this. Thought I would avatar my dog for a while. We had to put her down July 22.

Hi Marc,

How did it go trying to upload your AVATAR from https://postimages.org/ onto BajaNomad... just today I got the pesky photocaca notification to upgrade even though I have any but a very few pics uploaded to them, most of my pics are uploaded directly to BajaNomad server... any way, I deleted my avatar's link to the caca server and followed David's instruction to upload from "postimages" hosting server:

1- Created a "postimages" account
2- Uploaded image (200x200 for Avatar)
3- Clicked on SHARE
4- Copied link from: "Hotlink for forums"

5- Then on the BajaNomad under the "Edit Profile" tab, after pasting "Hotlink for forums" onto the "Avatar URL" window I can see: "Invalid: Invalid Image" after clicking "Edit Profile"

Unfortunately I have NOT been able to upload my Avatar after many tries... CAN ANYONE HELP...???... meanwhile...

avatar to the left is hosted at postimages.org.

1. select the photo from your hard disk you want to use.
2. upload using the avatar size selection
3. copy and paste URL into your profile. Use the second link named "Direct Link".

Here's the trick;

This message board requires that the URL you use ends in an image extension, .jpg, .gif, or maybe .png. The "Direct Link" does that.

Also, the "Direct Link" starts with "https". You need to edit out the "s".

again, the URL starts with http:// and ends with a valid image extension.

This must be why you can't host from Google Photos to here. Because nomads doesn't support secure http. For sure you can use Google Photos to host to other sites. I just did it on another forum.

I have tried to suggest for quiet a while that the site move into the 20th century... but change is hard.

How strange. Yes, I see the photos. When you look at the source code, do you see the html img tags as in attached capture? If you do, something on YOUR end is filtering out the images...

yup, I see them, lines 938 thru 943 in my source code viewer. I'm running an up-to-date chrome browser on a plain jane samsung chromebook and of course https works for me from address bar.

Looks like simple HTML, it's there, but my browser is not displaying the images for some reason.

You're right lencho, it is something on my end. When I run chrome in the "incognito mode" the babes photos show up.

My guess would be some sort of ad blocker extension to your browser...

Great guess! I disabled adblocker for this site and now the photos work.

Sooo... I think we have determined that this site does NOT have a consistent grudge against https:// based images.

JZ, do you still think that's the case?

Not so fast......

Try to use https for an avatar. The forum software itself will tell you it's an invalid image after you enter the URL and it won't work. That's what led me astray with the [ img ] images.
