traveling with pet
Im hearing mixed results calling vets around san diego.
I have a healthy lab whom is up to date on all vacinations
will I need the entire health certificate for this? or simply his rabies distemper etc?

seems that almost everyone has a different story,,,
We have always had the health cert. but only once have been asked to see and all they wanted to see was the rabies vacc was current.
Have heard that U.S. border coming back has started checking but we have never had that happen..
Common sense is a flower that doesn\'t grow in everyone\'s garden.....

i have had cbp ask for mexican pet cert while entering the us at tecate. .......then complain that it was in spanish!

Pets
We cross on the average, twice a month it's hit and miss at the U.S. or Mex. All we have is our dogs shot records in the little book that the Mex.
Vet gave us. Never had a problem yet. Our dog is 7 years old and was a rescue off of Ensenada streets when she was still a puppy.

My understanding is that the Mexican government recognizes the rabies vaccination/certificate as valid for only one year. In the USA, many rabies
vaccinations are good for 3 years.
In practical terms, I cross with dogs at Tecate 2x per month and have never been asked for proof of vaccinations entering or leaving Mexico.

Can I assume you are driving? Flying in can require much stricter enforcement of the regulations.
I have only been asked for proof of vaccinations entering at Tecate in 2014. I had a health certificate, but he did not care to see it.
There was a link posted a while back about the Mexican requirements, and it said that evidence of parasite treatment should be indicated on the health
certificate. I give my dog Sentinel for heartworm and other parasites, so it is on the certificate, and I have the prescription and tablets with me.

went down and back for 4 days with all proper documents and never was checked. Heading back down to la paz nex week for a few weeks.

I had the same question. These are good enough answers for me. I have two dogs both have current 3 year rabies vaccination records.
I'll make sure a copy goes with us!
