Whale Watching in Lopez Mateo? Reservation Needed?

Hey Nomads!

We are going to be in San Juanico for a little bit. Messing with the house and relaxing. We've missed out in years prior on seeing whales and thought maybe we would day trip down to Lopez Mateo to see the whales. That would be the easiest spot to get to for us so that's what I ask about Lopez Mateo. Has anyone ever gone from there for whale watching? Do we need a reservation? Can we just show up in the morning and wander around to find a boat? Any insider info on this spot?

We realize that San Ignacio and San Carlos are probably awesome but for this trip, Lopez Mateo is what we are interested in for logistics reasons. :)

Thank you!

You don't need a reservation on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, but suggest reservations the rest of the days.

There are 4 Co-Ops to choose from and the route to the Grey Whale Sanctuary dock is marked with signs.

Also the Grey Whale Festival is Feb, 1, 2 and 3 this year and town will be jam packed.
