La Bocana student opens store in Santa Rosalia!

PLAYAS NEGRAS STORE OPENS UP MARCH 2019

Pablo was a sponsored student for his first semester at college in Santa Rosalia. After a couple months, the whole family moved there and all found jobs, so he didn't need our help any more.

Jump forward 5 years and he is now graduated (this month) and opened up a tourist store in Santa Rosalia. Plans are to expand the t-shirt brand and eventually offer products online as well.

If you have a chance to stop by and check it out and spend a little, please do!

Address is Constitución No.9, Colonia Centro, 23920 Santa Rosalía, Baja California Sur

Here are the photos from the PLAYAS NEGRAS webpage on facebook.

This is one t-shirt design but they have another that is a map of Baja. I ordered two for us and will post a photo once it arrives this weekend. Price $180 pesos

They are offering gift baskets with varying prices - one was quoted to me for $250. All products are local, their goal is to sell local ranch wines (finally someone to represent the ranches!), date bread, jams and so much more.

This was opening day! I hear that Jim Anderson stopped by! Way to go and thanks for supporting kids with big dreams.

So proud of Pablo! He graduated in Computer Science and marketing - and his marketing skills are quite impressive. His parents were so supportive of him. His Mom tells me that he would bring home students who he thought needed a home-cooked meal. That is My Pablo, she said. Great kid and I am so honored and grateful to all of you who helped me start this kid out!

This is the kind of story that Baja needs more of.
Thank you, Blanca, for sharing it and helping to make it happen.
You are and true inspiration to these kids and to me!

DK They actually sell little bottles of black sand that says Playas Negras Santa Rosalia on it!

I suggested MEXICO shirts. So hard to find a --shirt that simply says Mexico.

It really is a good story, ain't it TMW!!! You brought down many supplies for him and his buddies back in the day!! You certainly have a special place in heaven amigo. :-)))

I just looked back on my original Pablo file and our hotel guest Mr. Kerbis was his sponsor starting way back in 2014! Not only did he cover tuition, and rent, but he sent extra cash for Pablo to buy clothes. How do you thank someone for all this generosity? By graduating, just like he did.

Doc. Ray who came to San Ignacio in March 2014 worked on Pablo's teeth and especially his gums. We got special toothpaste for him. I even gave him some extra medicated gum liquid. In November of the same year, he got a deep cleaning and lots of floss. And he had no cavities (after the kids see my face when they have cavities, I think they take pity on me hahaha)

In October, the Ophthalmologist in Santa Rosalia gave Pablo an eye test (free) and our Optometist in San Diego donated glasses. I do remember Pablo being so happy. He has very bad eye sight. The next year, he was able to buy himself new glasses. He was so great with computers that the university hired him to keep theirs running smoothly and gave his credit.

He came in 4th place on the entrance exams that year and his current partner in business came in 3rd place.

yup, this is one of the good stories for sure.
