San Quintin to Catavina Off Road

I'm looking for any advice on taking this route from San Quintin to El Rosario to Catavina off road. Any info helps.

I know this is "old" 1000 race course, but I'd like to know if there are any locked gates, fences or known impassable washouts along this route.

Thanks,
SW

You might look at the Baja divide bicycle route, I think it uses most of that same track...

The bicycle route goes a bit more North before heading South. We would only be on their route at when we leave Hwy 1 and enter Hwy 1.

The section after El rosario headed south was raced in 2015. Their route headed north.

I just took another look and compared it to Google Earth and the route you show from El Rosario east is a good route with no gates. This road joins the road from Hwy 1 at KM103 at 30-11.150x115-25.200. This was last years B1K race course. It was running opposite of the way you will be going. Anyway if you follow the race course you would be on the Hwy at KM103 for about 5 miles then off to the north for about 45 miles then back to the Hwy at KM150 then off to the north again paralleling the Hwy before crossing it at KM169 toward the coast.

I don't know what gates there may be from Hwy 1 KM111 to KM150. From KM150 to KM169 there are no gates that I'm aware of.

You can down load the course notes, maps etc. at

ive ran this route and would sugest going to el Rosario and heading out under the bridge (rm 5 on JZs map) . its just a baja road except for the awesome view at about rm 15. after that things get to be about the same. so I would cut out east of 25 and go to the highway. that 20 mile run will give you a sand wash, whoops, a cliff hill climb, and a desert crossing. You'll see it all in that 20.
