'The plan was to build 4,400 luxury homes, a beachfront hotel, restaurants and other businesses on a fishing beach and one of the only swimmable spots in a region beloved by surfers for its powerful waves.''

2nd paragraph and where did this bogus info come from? This is not a swimming beach, nobody swims there as the waves are treacherous. Beloved by surfers? No surfing at Punta Lobos and it's not beloved by anyone except fishermen.

Otherwise, the article is correct. Money from US investors and MX's all too willing to sell out locals.

Just the way it is down here.
