South Dakota driver's license

Even though Arizona seems great compared to California, I've found that there are problems.
I was away visiting my aged mother for several weeks and decided to buy a car while in Rhode Island.
State fees, safety/emissions inspection and such made my $1000 Accord into a $1700 car.
AND I had to register and insure it in her name.
They have FINALLY sent the title to her after 6 weeks.

I'm not putting up with petty state bureaucracy any more than I have to.
I am willing to report a step-by-step process of getting a driver's license and vehicle registration from South Dakota if someone can point me the right direction.
Do I just fly to Souix Falls and do it?
Bring signed title with me?
Turn in my driver's license?
Thanks for any help.

You will need as SD address, most people use one of several private mail box services. rapid City, Sioux Falls and a few locations to choose from. Vehicle registrations are handled by the County Government, DL by State. Pick a service that fits your needs and budget , fill out the paperwork and start service.

Most will handle vehicle registrations by mail for a fee. Or do it yourself when there for your DL. Arrive at County office, fill out paperwork, give clerk existing title and pay the fees. Walk out with new plates and registration.

For a DL you have to go to SD and do this in person. (Same for renewal every 5 years.) You need one night's receipt from a hotel or campground to establish residency. Take the receipt, SS Card or other approved forms of ID and your old DL to any SD DL station, fill out the form, take the eye test and pay a small fee. Walk out with your new permanent DL.

Really not that hard. There's plenty of info on the RV forums too.

So there's no confusion, it looks like your wanting a SD license because you want SD residency.

You don't need residency to get SD plates. For plates I like Clay County. Call them and they'll walk you through the paperwork needed and link to online form you fill out and send in with paperwork. Check or credit card. Plates/tags in couple weeks.
