why is everyone doing the same over and over again?
here is a forgotten one for you:
south end 29°37'19.85"N, 114°19'24.27"W
north end 29°37'33.85"N, 114°19'16.28"W
that's how far I drove with an average 4x4
a bike could easily do the connection
4x4's would have to be dedicated rock crawlers
but it seems they prefer to drive to Mike's and talk adventure

Harald, I always wondered why the Mexican road builders around 1959 went south into a dead-end canyon or didn't make the road on through there? On
the 1962 edition Lower California Guidebook (Howard Gulick) map:
What about the well-defined trail/road that is up on the side of the ridge, above your south waypoint?

that is why I started searching, David.
Why would a straight line road end abruptly?
User tracks continue south from there
the track in the south is a dozer track, probably built around 1959
farther south from there it is mostly washed away, but the ground is easy for driving

Here is Gulick's 1956 map, researched before Grosso created the first track north to the sulfur mine (where the road south from San Felipe ended).

Just drove the straight line road from the south. It is good condition. At the north end one has to jog to the west to near the highway due to the
fencing for the airstrip. The road is wide like it was made with a grader as opposed to a dozer. The road has quite a few curves as it works its way
thru various gullies. It is obvious the intent was for a 2 lane road.

We rode bikes up the Pioneer Mine "Road" thats about a mile east of that area last weekend, would need a capable 4x4 to say the least.

About 5 miles of it is pretty bad, although no huge vert faces everything is fairly rounded and locked down. Just have to keep up speed, commit while
not ripping off pegs/rotors, and stay loose as you get knocked around. The biggest issue for a couple of our guys was not the bike skills it was the
cardio!

That trail is awesome on moto!!! We rode it few weeks ago. A good dirt bike and good rider can carry speed across those rocks. The key is to carry
enough speed you stay on top of them. It's one of those situations that it looks like going slower is easier, but it's the opposite. The faster you
can go the smoother.

sorry no vid. And I should have worded that differently... I am not trying to put anyone down or anything. I have the benefit of having practiced a
lot on pro level endurocross track, so it's second nature now. But I recognize that isn't true for everyone.
I was just wanting to say that these types of trails are awesome on bikes if that is what you like! Probably not everyone's cup of tea but definitely
mine.

I would have to go slower and try not to kill myself. I ride with guys that would fly down that road. Some are even older thanI am. Looks fun.
