With a special permisso obtained from the Port Captain, boats are allowed (permitted) to go fishing to feed families.
This is how it's done to feed hundreds.

Apparently the fishermen here in San Felipe have made 2 runs to Mexicali with 10 tons of fish each. Setting up in the poorer parts of town selling the catch for 15 pesos a kilo or if you don't have money, it is free. 4 kilo limit per family.

Wonderful!!!

Sad that they won't allow our local fisherman do the same for our small costal communities.

Thank you for your kind comments …
We're proud of how crews take care of one another and all families, immediate and extended - this has always been a priority for us, in good times and well, these times.
Edited to say: "Extended" family means anyone you see that needs a hand, a meal, some clothes, etc.
Hope this craziness gets resolved, soon.
Lori

Kudos to magic. The SF fishermen can afford to give fish away from the money their making selling fish bladders to the Chinese that created this mess to start with.

Kudos indeed. I wonder if just giving the equivalent cash that operating a sport fishing boat costs and give it to a food bank wouldn'tbe more efficient?
Of course the gesture would loose PR energy if done that way.
This makes me wonder why the generous people who donate to those in need , have their owne need to make the gift known to all via the WWW. When i give to a person, family or a foodbank, i have no requirement to publicly announce it. I would hope the self generated promotion is ment to inspire generosity in others, but i wonder.

pacificobob I 'announced' what we did to inspire others who can do so as well.
amigobaja No one working on a boat owned/managed/represented by us will sell fish. That isn't to say it's not done - we know that it is and we don't condone it.

Blanca and Feathers approach the authorities in your area w/the request. Hope this helps.

Puertecitos? The legal fishery lands a lot of fish there. These are the good guys that fish outside of the exclusion zone, not the poachers.

Nice gesture on the part of Cabo Magic. Keep the crew busy, go fishing. One would have to love fishing to be a sportfishing captain. I killed so many fish back in the day I sort of got tired of it. I always got a chuckle at how enthusiastic the captain on the Mission Belle boat was. This guy does this day in, day out, and still sounds like a little kid on Christmas when he spots a school. (San Diego boat)
