"Canada and the United States appear likely to extend a ban on non-essential travel until June 21 amid the novel coronavirus pandemic, a Canadian
government source and a top U.S. official said on Wednesday.
The two neighbors had agreed on April 18 to extend border restrictions until May 21 as cases of the disease continued to rise in both nations. Canada
is now pressing for the measures to remain for another month.
"It's too early to lift the restrictions, so we're working toward an extension," said one Canadian government source, describing the talks with
Washington as positive.
Chad Wolf, acting U.S. Department of Homeland Security secretary, said later on Wednesday that restrictions across the borders with Canada and Mexico
would likely be extended.
Speaking to reporters in San Diego, Wolf said officials from Canada and Mexico were willing to continue the measures "at least in the short term."
Separately, a Mexican government source said an extension for a limited period seemed likely."

Am i correct in thinking there is daily air service arriving at SJD? Can a tourist board the aircraft NOB ? Are all the passengers permanent
resident or locals?

There is air traffic coming into Sjd still. Alaskan and AA have limited flights coming and going.

The Ride Baja Facebook page showed a group of m/c riders crossing freely at Tecate this past weekend for a ride to the Horsepower Ranch near Ensenada.
No roadblocks and the businesses appreciated the many dollars earned following two months of no business.

I just checked the Alaska Airlines site, and Mexico is not on the list of destinations with travel restrictions! However I could not
find any information about obtaining an FMM, which is part of the air fare for non residents.
If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!

Border closure for non-essential trips is extended until June 22, it's official now: Closure extended until June 22
Returning US citizens and green card holders can travel North.
They talk a lot about high number of cases in the US as a threat to other countries but don't actually mention entry to Mexico, only from Mexico to
the US. I would "think" that there is a corresponding document issued by Mexican govt.

Alm, thanks for the link. I read it, and it appears to only apply to land entry to the US from Mexico (and Canada). Page 5 exempts air travel from
the restriction.
Do you know if Mexico has enacted a similar policy?

AK - yes, I'm pretty sure Mexico has enacted the same policy. Mexican sources quote their SRE (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) that "Mexico and the
United States agreed to extend for 30 more days restrictions on non-essential tránsito terrestre (ground traffic) on their common border, after
reviewing the development of the spread of Covid-19".
Land crossing again. Even if they allow air travel, getting on a commercial plane now is insanity.

When I crossed northbound today (Tues.), the conversation went like this----
Agent-- "Donde va?"
Me-- "Encinitas"
Agent-- Waved his hand and said: "Have a nice day".

If you are gringo tourist driving in Mexico on non-essential travel, and have an accident, will insurance cover you if your presence in the country
and your driving itself was illegal as they were non-essential?
