Chula Vista to Loreto

We just drove from Chula Vista to Loreto by way of 5 down the East side. Have been driving to Loreto for over 30 years, and have usually driven through TJ & down 1. That drive has recently taken us about 14 1/2 to 15 hours. We normally only stop for bathroom calls, and pack our own food & drink for the drive. I also drive between 60 & 65 where we can.

This trip went from our house in CV up 94 to Tecate, to 2 to 5 to 1. Comparing this to our normal route down 1, found it to be 20 miles longer, however the trip took us 13 1/2 hours. I figure it was a good 1 hr faster. Very good road condition all the way. There of course was very light traffic compared to normal conditions.

Next trip down I think we will just go out 8 to Calexico and go through to 5. Just for the comparison.

Only 20 miles longer starting at Chula Vista?

I would have guessed more.

Any problem crossing in with the official status? I need to head down to help someone out next week. Prefer not to get hung up.

We had no issues with the border going into Mex, just waved us through, and only stopped at one military stop. She only asked where we were going and waved us through. My wife and I both have RP status and own property in Loreto with carried proof to show.
