Photos of the summer scholarship party 2020

Last Saturday was the day for the scholarship student get together. It was Christmas in the summer since 7 of them will be graduating this December, therefore will probably NOT be able to come to the xmas party, I decided to take advantage to mentor them now on my dream job for them. Goals for job hunting:

Salary and not hourly
Health benefits
Retirement plan
Paid vacations
Professional growth opportunity
They mentioned good starting pay LOL

It was a superbly beautiful day, slightly cloudy so not too hot. Food from Antojitos Juanita was excellent, as always. The students got to chat with each other, which is good as well. They live all over Baja depending on their major.

I also had high school senior Lesly, whom we have been helping for years now, come. I wanted her to see how the college students work hard to achieve their goals.

Boxes and more boxes! Tidiana helping me out.

Alberto will be graduating in Renewable Resources Engineering at the end of this year. Here he is with his brand new tshirt box. Every college scholarship student get a new shirt.

Here are the goodies that both San Ignacio Pat and wife as well as John B and wife Gwenda brought! The girls eyes LIT UP when they saw their make up bags and make up and earrings and so much more.

I also am downsizing in a big way, so I gave the ladies some fine jewelry that I have not used in years...not going to wear a ruby anywhere in La Bocana hahaha Each one got a fancy ring or necklace.

Punta Chivato donated all the leftover clothes and shoes from their annual benefit rummage sale. This is what gave me the clothes to be able to create a box for each student. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

Last time we went to San diego, I was able to get tons of donated kitchen items. Students absolutely love getting pots, pans, dishes. Most of the items I had to set out on the patio floor. Due to maintaining distance, I could not put the stuff inside like I usually do. My 2 American helpers could not come this year so the layout is not as beautiful as usual. I am lucky that Tidiana has a natural talent! She did the tables this year!!

Alen came. He graduated last December, got a job at a TJ packaging company and then the corona virus hit. He decided to quit since so many coworkers were catching the virus. He approached me with the most incredible idea of starting a company. Stay tuned for more on that when he finalizes the plan. His mom is makes extra cash by baking cakes. He brought me a banana nut cake - oh my gosh - it was really good.

Here we all are. It was a great day and I felt really happy that I got to give them my message.

Clarissa, who graduated 3 years ago and is now teaching at her university in La Paz, comes every single year to help me out. I could not make this day perfect without her. She is on the far right. She mentioned that she wants to go for her Master's and I am thrilled! We would only have to cover the 1st semester. The Mexican gvt. pays beaucoup bucks or pesos from th2 2nd semester on.

Lesly is the one directly next to me with blue jeans and flower top.

Thanks everyone. You are the reason all this was possible.

Blanca,
Gwenda was nearly in tears hearing how the girls enjoyed the make up! Great job!

Paranewbi! Credit where credit is due: do you see the blue laundry soaps on the right side of the photo? Those are the ones YOU donated. One of the first items to go and we only had the ones you gave ! They were hot items and poof, disappeared right away. Thanks so so so much.
