Years ago, I was commenting on some sub-standard Tile Work at a restaurant in San Felipe and one of those in our party noted " It's
to be expected. All of the really good craftsmen who can have gone North. "
Given what "appears" to be the availability locally, I suppose that doesn't apply to the professional Senoritas, but my experience on that
subject is substantially dated.

I tend think that kind thoughts towards another group of people is fine.
Simplistic? Maybe.
Perhaps bit of what the world needs more of.

As a long time developer and home builder I can certainly opine on this topic
40 years ago when I got into the framing biz all of our crew were Okies and rednecks, and the transistor radios on the job played C/W non stop.
Today our brown brethren dominate in the subdivisions, and the music is Ranchero and the lunch fare is tacos and burritos.
And the quality of the house we build today is at least, and in most cases better than the one of 40 years ago.
Viva Mexico, thanks for sending those craftsmen!!

I retired in 2007, but for quite a few years before that, it was very common to be working alongside sub-contractors with perhaps only the foreman was
bi-lingual.
By the way, that was in Anchorage!
If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!

What other group of people can nickname their friends names like fat and skinny (gordo and flaco) and it is said and taken with affection?

We always have four basic rules on job site
1. No girl friends
2. No music
3. No campfires
4. No dogs
With the rednecks, all of the above were great opportunities for pushing, shoving and even some uppercuts.
The Brown Brothers generally only break rule#2, and since they all love Ranchero (now there is a crass generalization, but true) the others issues are
not a problem.
In addition to good craftmanship this too is a blessing....not many fisticuffs on the job these days.
