Rancho Chapala

Stopped in 3/14 to air up and chow down.
Hadn't stopped here in over a decade.
Old cowboy drinking tea only other cliente.
Very soft-spoken, extra-tranquilo waiter/cook/owner (a Se?or Grosso) provided verbal menu. Went with the machaca de res.
Moist, flavorful and properly prepared.
Typically fine tortillas
Beans were gamey...perhaps the manteca had been around the block.
Left full and experienced no untoward after effects.
Got me through to El Sauzal (review pending).
Overall rating: Service 3/5; Food: 3/5; Value 3/5; ambience: 3/5.

Had the heavous rancheros twice and both times they were great. Also quesadillas a few times and they were tasty.
One 15 year old boy, who was with us and apparently starving, scarfed 2 orders of the the quesos. We told him they probably took his picture, put in on the wall and declared him "Customer Of The Month"!!!
