Mexico approves Sputnik V vaccine
“ Global interest in Sputnik V was bolstered on Tuesday after peer-reviewed results from its late-stage clinical trial were published in The Lancet
international medical journal.
Sputnik V was 91.6% effective in preventing people from developing COVID-19, according to those results.”
Sounds good. Even if it’s peer-reviewed, I think it would be good to provide more data and detail to overcome the potential bias that information
from Russia may not be reliable.

There hasn't been much of a bias, more a mistrust from the outset because of the way they were pushing it, without transparency and with a lot of

Furthermore, he said, it's not clear where these 39 people came from, how old they were and whether the results from trials in one country were mixed
with those from another location.
...initial estimates that Russia would be able to produce 200 million doses of Sputnik V by the end of next month [i.e. December] turned out to be
wildly optimistic. The health ministry now says it may be able produce two million doses, at best.
Putin himself has not [agreed to get vaccinated with Sputnik V]. A spokesperson said it would be irresponsible for the head of state to take an
"uncertified" vaccine.

Being the cheapest vaccine, it will sell. Better than nothing, when you don't have enough money or can't wait for some big brand. Hungary bought it
already - incidentally, one of the poorest countries in EU. Brazil wanted to buy in December but health minister refused, saying that more proof is
needed - I think they will buy eventually.

I donno... Don't see any numbers, only the usual Russian hot air. I guess we shall see. They compare it in mechanism of action to Astrazeneca, the
latter has <70% efficiency as I recall.
